kiss & cut

This is a journal-based dual polar collection of works created over the period of eight weeks, spanning early December 2012 to mid-February 2013. Like most of my work, this series is directly linked to a life-changing event, and the need to survive the ensuing days. Highly inspired by spells of emotional turmoil, these works are an attempt to examine with goes on in our internal organs, what allows us to hurt so deeply, yet continue to function normally in our quotidian lives. When we feel emotional pain, how do we not succumb to it and die? The collection is an ode to hearts that stay beating, lungs that stay breathing and spleens that continue to filter blood.
